The Receptionist
Ooh, I LOVE anime! Who are you supposed to be?

The Receptionist is a minor character in Katana Zero. She first appears in the Murdower Hotel mission and, depending on the player's actions, the Bunker mission, both times working as a front desk receptionist.

In Game

The Receptionist first appears during the Murdower Hotel mission. She greets Zero while he's walking into the hotel, and will ask him about his outfit. Zero can respond by stating that he's cosplaying, wearing a bathrobe, or by repeatedly interrupting her until she gets furious and lets him through.

When Zero is exiting the hotel after killing Josh Rose, the Receptionist will chime in while Zero is being questioned by a SWAT officer. Depending on what Zero said before he began his mission, she will either confirm what he said to her earlier or alert the officer if Zero contradicts what he said or interrupted her. If the latter happens, The Psychiatrist will have her killed off-screen.

Provided that Zero leaves the hotel mission without confronting the police, the Receptionist will be working the same job at the front desk of Omar Al-Qasim's bunker. If Zero had previously told her he was cosplaying, she will talk to him about anime and attempt to ask him out on a date. If he previously mentioned he was going into the hotel to shower, he can say that he's going to shower again, or challenge the receptionist to a card game.

Notes

  • If the Psychiatrist has the Receptionist killed, the receptionist in Al-Qasim's bunker will be replaced with a nameless man. He lets Zero through if Zero threatens him.
  • The Receptionist is one of the only NPCs in the game who is not technically an antagonist by default. She only becomes hostile to Zero if he makes her angry through conversation.

Trivia

  • One of the dialogue options during the hotel mission is stating that Zero is cosplaying Pinkachu, post-Season 17. In the direct aftermath of the Murdower Hotel and Bunker mission it will be confirmed that Zero was in fact wearing the same outfit as post-Season 17 Pinkachu, and it could be inferred that Zero watches New Mecca's equivalent of Pokémon.
    • After choosing this dialogue option, Zero can spend the rest of the conversation speaking like a Pokémon. The Receptionist will eventually let him through.
  • Zero can also state that he is cosplaying a character named Shinju from Sakura Redux X. Despite Zero later being able to say that he made the character and show up, a Skinny Ricky working the roulette wheel in the beginning of the Chinatown mission will recognize the character as well.
    • It works with Pinkachu too.
  • The Receptionist will make flirtatious comments on Zero's physique if he mentions that Sakura Redux involves spinning tops in an arena. At the end of the mission, she will call Zero "big boy."
